**關鍵詞：** machine-native laboratory、autonomous science、self-driving laboratory、remote handling、scientific robotics、restricted research zone、no-routine-human-entry、robotic maintenance、AI-native infrastructure、human-safe recovery

$$
\mathcal{H}_{\mathrm{human}}
=
\{
\text{human-scale geometry},
\text{walkable access},
\text{breathable atmosphere},
\text{human-visible interface},
\text{manual serviceability},
\text{human-compatible ambient conditions}
\}.
$$

$$
\text{AI}
\rightarrow
\text{robot}
\rightarrow
\text{instrument}
\rightarrow
\text{sample}
\rightarrow
\text{sensor}
\rightarrow
\text{AI},
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{human routine accessibility}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{an engineering variable}.
}
$$

---

- scalability；
- generalizability；
- provenance-complete experimentation [1]。

$$
\boxed{
\text{autonomy is moving from instrument scale toward facility scale}.
}
$$

- planning actions；
- issuing instrument commands；
- interpreting observations；
- iterating toward experimental goals [5]。

$$
\text{measurement}
\rightarrow
\text{real-time analysis}
\rightarrow
\text{feedback}
\rightarrow
\text{next acquisition}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{human eye at the instrument}
}
$$

$$
\text{physical phenomenon}
\rightarrow
\text{sensor}
\rightarrow
\text{digital data}
\rightarrow
\text{processing}
\rightarrow
\text{human interface}.
$$

例如：

- SEM；
- TEM；
- synchrotron detector；
- cryo-EM；
- AFM；
- spectroscopy；
- tomography；
- particle detectors；

$$
\boxed{
\text{instrument acquisition itself becomes adaptive and AI-mediated}.
}
$$

$$
\text{raw data}
\rightarrow
\text{AI analysis}
\rightarrow
\text{scientific representation}
\rightarrow
\text{human}.
$$

Machine-Native Scientific Zone

$$
\mathcal{O}
=
f(
S,
P,
D,
E,
M,
H
),
$$

其中：

$$
S
=
\text{safety},
$$

$$
P
=
\text{scientific performance},
$$

$$
D
=
\text{density},
$$

$$
E
=
\text{environmental controllability},
$$

$$
M
=
\text{machine maintainability},
$$

$$
H
=
\text{human recoverability}.
$$

Machine-native

$$
H=0.
$$

$$
\boxed{
H
>
H_{\min}.
}
$$

$$
\mathcal{Z}
=
\{
Z_H,
Z_S,
Z_M,
Z_R,
Z_N
\}.
$$

---

## 6.1 $Z_H$ — Human Zone

- breathable atmosphere；
- ordinary access；
- human ergonomics；
- direct interaction；
- office / collaboration / governance。

例如：

- control room；
- scientific collaboration area；
- design studio；
- governance center。

---

## 6.2 $Z_S$ — Human-Serviceable Zone

$$
\text{shutdown}
+
\text{isolation}
+
\text{safety preparation}
$$

- ordinary server area；
- liquid cooling plant；
- robot laboratory；
- instrument hall。

$$
\text{human maintenance}.
$$

---

## 6.3 $Z_M$ — Machine-Native Zone

$$
\text{AI}
+
\text{robots}
+
\text{automation}
$$

$$
\text{human routine access}
$$

- robot reach；
- machine density；
- environmental stability；
- service routing；

---

## 6.4 $Z_R$ — Restricted Research Zone

- cryogenic conditions；
- oxygen-deficiency risk；
- strong magnetic field；
- radiation；
- vacuum；
- chemical hazard；
- high voltage；
- high-power laser；
- biological containment；

$$
\boxed{
\text{special authorization}
+
\text{PPE / special equipment}
+
\text{safe operating procedure}.
}
$$

---

## 6.5 $Z_N$ — No-Routine-Human-Entry Zone

正常 operational mode 中：

$$
\boxed{
\text{human presence is not required}.
}
$$

例行：

- observation；
- manipulation；
- maintenance；
- logistics；

$$
\text{Human-Safe Recovery Mode}.
$$

3. vent / purge / warm up；
4. verify atmosphere；
5. mechanically secure equipment；
6. authorize human entry。

因此：

$$
Z_N
\neq
\text{permanently inaccessible}.
$$

---

# 7. Machine-Native

$$
\text{less human access}
=
\text{more advanced}.
$$

$$
\Delta V
=
V_{\mathrm{machine-native}}
-
V_{\mathrm{human-centered}}.
$$

只有：

$$
\Delta V>0
$$

$$
\{
\text{safety},
\text{throughput},
\text{precision},
\text{density},
\text{environment control},
\text{energy},
\text{reproducibility}
\}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{不要 machine-native 化。}
}
$$

---

- cryogenic burns；
- lung injury；
- overpressure；
- oxygen enrichment；
- Oxygen Deficiency Hazard（ODH）[9]。

$$
\boxed{
\text{hazardous zone}
+
\text{remote operation}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{human outside}
+
\text{machine inside}
}
$$

$$
\text{hazard workaround}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{first-class laboratory architecture}.
}
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{robotic maintainability must be designed in, not retrofitted later}.
}
$$

---

- uninstall module；

$$
\boxed{
\text{design equipment for robotic intervention}
}
$$

---

# 12. Embodiment Follows Task

- manipulate sample；
- turn valve；
- inspect cable；
- measure radiation；
- service cryogenic connector；
- operate microscope；
- move between stations；

$$
\boxed{
B^\ast
=
f(
\text{task},
\text{geometry},
\text{environment},
\text{precision},
\text{payload},
\text{mobility}
).
}
$$

$$
\mathcal{B}
=
\{
\text{arm},
\text{rail robot},
\text{crawler},
\text{mobile base},
\text{drone},
\text{telemanipulator},
\text{micro-manipulator},
\text{vacuum robot},
\text{cryogenic robot}
\}.
$$

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{robot morphology follows scientific function}.
}
$$

---

- doors；
- stairs；
- standard hand tools；
- human control panels；
- legacy laboratory benches。

$$
\boxed{
\text{backward compatibility with human infrastructure}.
}
$$

$$
\text{humanoid for legacy compatibility}
$$

與：

$$
\text{task-specific robotics for native zones}.
$$

---

Machine-native corridor

$$
W_{\mathrm{robot}},
$$

$$
R_{\mathrm{turn}},
$$

$$
H_{\mathrm{service}}
$$

設計。

例如：

- overhead rail；
- underfloor service robot；
- narrow instrument tunnel；
- vertical robot shaft；
- ceiling manipulator；
- dense modular racks。

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{floor plan no longer needs to equal human circulation map}.
}
$$

$$
\text{emergency recovery access}.
$$

---

$$
Z=Z_M
$$

或：

$$
Z_N,
$$

- human comfort temperature；
- human visual lighting；
- low acoustic noise；
- normal ceiling height；
- continuous breathable atmosphere。

$$
\boxed{
\text{optimize for machine and experiment constraints}.
}
$$

---

Machine-native zone

$$
A
\in
\{
\text{dry air},
\text{nitrogen},
\text{argon},
\text{low humidity},
\text{reduced pressure},
\text{vacuum},
\text{special process atmosphere}
\}.
$$

$$
O_2\downarrow,
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{machine-optimized atmosphere}
\rightarrow
\text{restricted human access}.
}
$$

$$
T(\mathbf{x},t)
$$

Machine-native zone

$$
T_{\mathrm{zone}}
=
240\ \mathrm K
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{human thermal comfort}
}
$$

$$
T_{\mathrm{zone}}
$$

的主要 constraint。

---

Environment Conversion

$$
\boxed{
\text{Human-Safe Recovery Mode}
}
$$

或：

$$
M_H.
$$

一個 machine-native zone 從：

$$
M_M
$$

$$
M_H
$$

$$
M_M
\rightarrow
M_{\mathrm{shutdown}}
\rightarrow
M_{\mathrm{isolate}}
\rightarrow
M_{\mathrm{purge}}
\rightarrow
M_{\mathrm{thermalize}}
\rightarrow
M_{\mathrm{verify}}
\rightarrow
M_H.
$$

- oxygen；
- temperature；
- pressure；
- radiation；
- electrical isolation；
- moving machinery；
- chemical atmosphere；
- structural state。

只有：

$$
V_{\mathrm{safe}}=1
$$

才開放 human entry。

---

# 19. Human Entry

$$
C_H
=
C_{\mathrm{shutdown}}
+
C_{\mathrm{conversion}}
+
C_{\mathrm{verification}}
+
C_{\mathrm{restart}}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{human-entry cost}.
}
$$

- maintenance planning；
- staffing；
- robot investment；
- redundancy。

---

$$
\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{operation}}
=
\{
\text{manual},
\text{teleoperation},
\text{shared autonomy},
\text{autonomous}
\}.
$$

### Routine transfer

$$
\text{autonomous}.
$$

### Novel maintenance

$$
\text{shared autonomy}.
$$

### Unstructured emergency repair

$$
\text{teleoperation}.
$$

### Safety inspection after shutdown

$$
\text{human physical entry}.
$$

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{machine-native}
\neq
\text{full autonomy only}.
}
$$

---

# 21. Shared Autonomy

- stabilize robot；
- avoid collision；
- manage force；
- recognize components；
- propose action。

- unusual manipulation；
- ambiguous damage；
- repair strategy。

$$
u
=
\alpha u_{\mathrm{AI}}
+
(1-\alpha)u_H.
$$

其中：

$$
\alpha
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{Machine-Readable Physical Environment}.
}
$$

- fiducial markers；
- machine-readable IDs；
- standardized geometry；
- pose reference；
- digital twin link；
- connector type；
- torque limit；
- service instructions；
- hazard state。

對 component $i$：

$$
D_i
=
(
ID_i,
G_i,
S_i,
H_i,
M_i
).
$$

其中：

$$
G_i
=
\text{geometry},
$$

$$
S_i
=
\text{service state},
$$

$$
H_i
=
\text{hazard state},
$$

$$
M_i
=
\text{maintenance metadata}.
$$

---

# 23. Connector 也應該 Machine-Native

- precise finger grip；
- twisting；
- visual alignment；
- difficult tool access。

Machine-native connector

- self-aligning；
- keyed；
- robot-grippable；
- force-sensing compatible；
- positive-lock state；
- machine-verifiable engagement；
- automatic leak test。

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{maintenance interface}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{module replacement}.
}
$$

例如：

$$
M_i
\rightarrow
M_i'.
$$

Machine-native zone

- disconnect；
- remove；
- replace；
- verify。

$$
MTTR\downarrow.
$$

---

Robot-Serviceable

$$
\boxed{
\text{robotic service contract}.
}
$$

例如：

- sample exchange interface；
- calibration target；
- self-test；
- diagnostic port；
- removable module；
- machine-accessible fastener；
- digital service manual。

---

# 26. Scientific Robot Capability

- adaptability and learning；
- dexterity；
- perception；
- task complexity [15]。

$$
6\text{-DOF arm}
$$

$$
R_c
=
f(
A,
D,
P,
T
),
$$

其中：

$$
A
=
\text{adaptability},
$$

$$
D
=
\text{dexterity},
$$

$$
P
=
\text{perception},
$$

$$
T
=
\text{task complexity}.
$$

---

- camera obscured；
- tool worn；
- pressure abnormal。

$$
\boxed{
\text{failure-aware autonomy}.
}
$$

對 action $a_t$：

$$
o_{t+1}
\neq
\hat{o}_{t+1}
$$

時：

$$
\text{detect}
\rightarrow
\text{diagnose}
\rightarrow
\text{recover / escalate}.
$$

---

# 28. Autonomous Laboratory 不等於 Autonomous Facility

### Autonomous Laboratory

$$
\text{experiment loop}.
$$

### Autonomous Facility

$$
\{
\text{energy},
\text{thermal},
\text{logistics},
\text{maintenance},
\text{safety},
\text{access}
\}.
$$

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{SDL}
\subset
\text{Machine-Native Scientific Facility}.
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{multi-agent management of autonomous materials labs}.
}
$$

- instrument contention；
- robot contention；
- sample logistics；
- compute allocation；
- laboratory scheduling；

$$
\boxed{
\text{scientific production scheduling}.
}
$$

---

# 30. Scientific Production Zone

$$
\boxed{
\text{experiment execution itself can become a continuously orchestrated production process}.
}
$$

- data；
- evidence；
- hypothesis elimination；
- material samples；
- model updates；
- negative results。

所以：

$$
\text{scientific production}
=
\text{systematic production of evidence}.
$$

---

Machine-native zone

$$
\text{AI defines all science}.
$$

$$
G
\in
\{
\text{human},
\text{AI},
\text{human-AI team}
\}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{execution substrate}.
}
$$

$$
\text{human presence}
=
\text{default}.
$$

Machine-native zone：

$$
\text{human presence}
=
\text{exception}.
$$

$$
E_H
=
\text{human physical intervention}
$$

$$
E_H
\iff
\{
\text{robotic recovery failed}
\vee
\text{novel fault}
\vee
\text{legal inspection}
\vee
\text{major rebuild}
\}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{exception-based physical human intervention}.
}
$$

---

# 33. Human Entry Criteria

只有：

$$
C_H=1
$$

$$
C_H
=
C_{\mathrm{atmosphere}}
\land
C_{\mathrm{thermal}}
\land
C_{\mathrm{radiation}}
\land
C_{\mathrm{electrical}}
\land
C_{\mathrm{mechanical}}
\land
C_{\mathrm{chemical}}.
$$

$$
C_H=1.
$$

否則：

$$
C_H=0.
$$

---

# 34. Human-Safe Recovery

$$
\boxed{
\text{recovery drills}.
}
$$

例如：

1. simulated fault；
2. robot unable to recover；
3. zone shutdown；
4. purge；
5. warmup；
6. lockout-tagout；
7. safety verification；
8. human inspection；
9. restart。

測量：

$$
\tau_{\mathrm{human-ready}}.
$$

---

$$
D_Z
=
\{
G,
K,
H,
R,
A,
S
\}.
$$

其中：

$$
G
=
\text{geometry},
$$

$$
K
=
\text{kinematic access},
$$

$$
H
=
\text{hazards},
$$

$$
R
=
\text{robot capability},
$$

$$
A
=
\text{authority state},
$$

$$
S
=
\text{service state}.
$$

Digital twin

### Human Accessibility Graph

$$
\mathcal{G}_H.
$$

### Machine Accessibility Graph

$$
\mathcal{G}_M.
$$

在 traditional lab：

$$
\mathcal{G}_H
\approx
\mathcal{G}_M.
$$

在 machine-native facility：

$$
\boxed{
\mathcal{G}_H
\neq
\mathcal{G}_M.
}
$$

$$
v\in\mathcal{G}_M
$$

但：

$$
v\notin\mathcal{G}_H
$$

during normal operation。

---

# 37. Machine Accessibility

$$
R_1,
$$

$$
R_1=\text{blocked},
$$

$$
N+1
$$

robot access：

$$
\exists
R_1,R_2.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{removable module path}.
}
$$

---

Machine-native

$$
P_{\mathrm{robot\ failure}}=0.
$$

- self-rescue；
- tow point；
- rescue robot；
- redundant locomotion；
- external power；
- manual remote override。

$$
\text{blocked robot}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{robot-recovery architecture}.
}
$$

---

# 39. Robot Repairing Robot

$$
R_A
\rightarrow
\text{service}
\rightarrow
R_B.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{maintainability termination path}.
}
$$

例如：

- simple rescue device；
- module extraction；
- human-safe recovery。

所以：

$$
\text{robot repairs robot}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{instrumented observability}.
}
$$

- RGB；
- depth；
- thermal；
- acoustic；
- vibration；
- force；
- pressure；
- flow；
- gas composition；
- radiation；
- magnetic field；
- electrical state；
- robot proprioception。

因此 zone state：

$$
S_Z
$$

---

# 41. AI Camera

$$
\boxed{
\text{closed-loop observation}.
}
$$

即：

$$
\text{observe}
\rightarrow
\text{interpret}
\rightarrow
\text{choose next view}
\rightarrow
\text{observe}.
$$

$$
\text{passive CCTV}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{active scientific perception network}.
}
$$

---

# 42. Macro–Meso–Micro Observation

Machine-native research environment

### Macro

整個 room / plant。

### Meso

設備與 robot。

### Micro

sample / instrument measurement。

因此：

$$
O
=
\{
O_{\mathrm{macro}},
O_{\mathrm{meso}},
O_{\mathrm{micro}}
\}.
$$

- depth map；
- thermal camera；
- force field；
- hyperspectral sensor；

$$
R_H
=
f(
O_{\mathrm{macro}},
O_{\mathrm{meso}},
O_{\mathrm{micro}}
).
$$

- 3D digital twin；
- augmented scientific map；
- event timeline；
- anomaly layer；
- confidence layer。

但：

$$
R_H
$$

---

# 44. AI-Native Projection

$$
\text{defect=true}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{raw observation}
\rightarrow
\text{calibration}
\rightarrow
\text{processing}
\rightarrow
\text{model inference}
\rightarrow
\text{representation}.
}
$$

Evidence Bus

$$
\boxed{
\text{Scientific Evidence Bus}.
}
$$

- raw data；
- timestamps；
- calibration；
- instrument state；
- sample identity；
- environmental state；
- AI action；

$$
E_i
=
(
X_i,
C_i,
I_i,
S_i,
M_i,
t_i
).
$$

其中：

$$
X_i
=
\text{raw measurement},
$$

$$
C_i
=
\text{calibration},
$$

$$
I_i
=
\text{instrument},
$$

$$
S_i
=
\text{environment state},
$$

$$
M_i
=
\text{analysis model}.
$$

---

# 46. Sample Identity

$$
\boxed{
\text{sample provenance}
}
$$

sample $s$：

$$
S_s(t)
=
(
\text{ID},
\text{location},
\text{history},
\text{environment},
\text{operations}
).
$$

---

# 47. Scientific Chain of Custody

$$
\boxed{
\text{chain of custody}
}
$$

應從 human workflow 轉成 machine-verifiable event chain。

例如：

$$
E_0
\rightarrow
E_1
\rightarrow
\cdots
\rightarrow
E_n.
$$

- location；
- agent；
- action；
- time；
- state；

Negative Result

AI optimizer

$$
\text{high-value region}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{failed / negative experiments are evidence}.
}
$$

$$
\{
\text{success},
\text{failure},
\text{inconclusive},
\text{aborted}
\}.
$$

否則 automation 可能製造 systematic publication-like bias。

---

- generalizability；
- scalability；
- adaptability；
- task complexity；

$$
\boxed{
\text{today's autonomous lab}
\neq
\text{general autonomous scientist}.
}
$$

$$
\exists
\text{AI error}.
$$

不是：

$$
\text{AI error}=0.
$$

- action validation；
- physical constraint；
- simulation；
- rollback；
- anomaly detection；
- escalation。

---

Autonomy Envelope

$$
\boxed{
\mathcal{E}_{\mathrm{auto}}
}
$$

$$
T
\in
[280,330]\ \mathrm K,
$$

$$
P
<
P_{\max},
$$

$$
\text{approved materials only}.
$$

若 AI 想進：

$$
T>330\ \mathrm K
$$

則：

$$
\text{escalate}.
$$

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{scientific autonomy is bounded experimental autonomy}.
}
$$

---

$$
\text{human presence}\downarrow
$$

$$
H_c
=
\text{hazard class},
$$

$$
A_c
=
\text{autonomy class}.
$$

$$
H_c
\neq
A_c.
$$

$$
H_c=\text{high},
$$

$$
A_c=\text{high}.
$$

---

# 53. Restricted Zone

$$
F_{\mathrm{novel}}.
$$

Robot

$$
R_{\mathrm{recover}}=0.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{shutdown}
\rightarrow
\text{human-safe conversion}
\rightarrow
\text{human intervention}.
}
$$

---

# 54. Human-Safe Conversion

$$
\boxed{
\text{independent verification}.
}
$$

例如：

- hardwired gas sensors；
- radiation monitors；
- lockout state；
- mechanical position；
- temperature sensors；
- independent safety PLC。

因此：

$$
AI_{\mathrm{operation}}
\neq
V_{\mathrm{entry}}.
$$

---

$$
Z(t)=Z_N.
$$

$$
Z(t)=Z_R.
$$

完成 purge / verification：

$$
Z(t)=Z_S.
$$

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{zone class may be operational-state dependent}.
}
$$

Transition Mechanism

- respirator；
- oxygen supply；
- radiation PPE；
- cryogenic PPE；
- telepresence；
- exoskeleton；
- specialized suit。

進入：

$$
Z_R.
$$

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{human capability}
}
$$

---

# 57. Machine-Native

- wide human aisles；
- manual-access clearance；
- standing height；
- human lighting；

則：

$$
D_{\mathrm{equipment}}
\uparrow.
$$

- heat density；
- maintenance complexity；
- robot collision risk；
- cable / pipe congestion。

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\max D
}
$$

$$
D^\ast
=
\operatorname*{argmax}_D
V_{\mathrm{lifecycle}}.
$$

---

# 58. Machine-Native

- heat；
- moisture；
- particles；
- vibration；
- door opening；
- atmospheric disturbance。

$$
\boxed{
\text{human absence itself may improve environmental stability}.
}
$$

例如：

- ultra-clean environment；
- vibration-sensitive microscopy；
- extreme thermal stability；
- controlled gas environment。

Disturbance

設：

$$
D_H
=
\text{human-induced disturbance}.
$$

$$
D_H
=
f(
Q_{\mathrm{body}},
H_2O,
CO_2,
\text{particles},
\text{vibration},
\text{EMI},
\text{access cycle}
).
$$

---

# 60. Security

- unauthorized physical access；
- accidental cable pull；
- misplaced tool；
- contamination；

- robot control；
- remote access；
- AI planner；
- sensor spoofing；
- digital twin；
- software supply chain。

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{physical risk shifts into cyber-physical risk}.
}
$$

---

# 61. Machine-Native Zone 的 Cyber-Physical Gate

$$
Z_i
\rightarrow
Z_j
$$

例如：

- robot；
- sample；
- command；
- fluid；
- data；

$$
\boxed{
\text{typed gateway}.
}
$$

- ID；
- contamination；
- container；
- destination；
- experiment authorization。

Robot gate

- task；
- capability；
- hazard compatibility；
- battery / tether；
- recovery path。

Robot Rescue Path

$$
\text{egress}.
$$

Machine-native zone 應有：

$$
\boxed{
\text{robotic recovery path}.
}
$$

例如：

- rail bypass；
- tow route；
- spare manipulator access；
- overhead crane；
- module extraction hatch。

目的：

$$
\text{single failed robot}
\not\Rightarrow
\text{blocked facility}.
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{observability}.
}
$$

- cameras；
- environmental sensors；
- equipment telemetry；
- robot telemetry；
- acoustic monitoring；
- diagnostic coverage。

所以：

$$
\text{human access}\downarrow
$$

$$
\text{instrumented observability}\uparrow.
$$

---

$$
D_C
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{detectable\ failure\ modes}}}
{N_{\mathrm{relevant\ failure\ modes}}}.
$$

$$
D_C
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{inaccessibility must be compensated by diagnosability}.
}
$$

---

# 65. Repairability Score

對 component $i$：

$$
R_i
=
f(
\text{access},
\text{tool compatibility},
\text{module replaceability},
\text{diagnostics},
\text{robot capability}
).
$$

若：

$$
R_i<R_{\min},
$$

$$
\boxed{
}
$$

---

# 66. Machine-Native Design Rule：

$$
P_{\mathrm{failure}}>0
$$

且：

$$
A_{\mathrm{robot}}=0,
$$

$$
\text{human intervention}.
$$

如果 human conversion cost 高：

$$
C_H\gg0,
$$

$$
\boxed{
C_{\mathrm{maintenance}}.
}
$$

---

$$
\text{science}
\neq
\text{repetition only}.
$$

- novelty；
- uncertainty；
- failed experiment；
- unexpected observation；
- changing apparatus。

因此 Machine-Native Scientific Zone 必須比 ordinary lights-out factory 更重視：

$$
\boxed{
\text{adaptability}
+
\text{evidence}
+
\text{human escalation}.
}
$$

---

$$
\text{product}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{evidence about unknowns}.
}
$$

$$
\max \text{throughput}.
$$

$$
\max
\text{valid information gain}.
$$

$$
J
=
-\lambda_1I_{\mathrm{gain}}
+
\lambda_2C_{\mathrm{resource}}
+
\lambda_3R_{\mathrm{risk}}.
$$

---

Machine-Native Prototype

$$
Z_M
$$

$$
Z_R.
$$

配置：

- robotic arm；
- mobile robot；
- automated instrument；
- sample rack；
- machine-readable fixtures；
- remote cameras；
- environment sensors；
- local AI；
- deterministic safety。

1. sample preparation；
2. transfer；
3. measurement；
4. calibration；
5. tool change；
6. minor fault recovery；
7. failed robot rescue。

比較：

$$
\text{machine-native workflow}
$$

與：

$$
\text{human workflow}.
$$

---

Human-Serviceable Restricted Zone

加入：

- low oxygen / dry inert environment simulation；
- sub-ambient temperature；
- interlocked access；
- automated purge；
- human-safe conversion。

$$
\tau_{\mathrm{human-ready}}.
$$

---

No-Routine-Human-Entry Zone

$$
\boxed{
\text{no routine human entry}.
}
$$

所有 routine maintenance：

$$
M_r
$$

要求：

$$
M_r\subseteq
\mathcal{A}_{\mathrm{robot}}.
$$

$$
M_r\not\subseteq
\mathcal{A}_{\mathrm{robot}},
$$

則：

$$
Z_N
$$

---

Restricted Scientific Environment

- cryogenic；
- radiation；
- vacuum；
- strong field；
- controlled atmosphere；

$$
\boxed{
\text{human exposure reduction}.
}
$$

---

Multi-Zone Scientific Production Habitat

$$
Z_H
\leftrightarrow
Z_S
\leftrightarrow
Z_M
\leftrightarrow
Z_R
\leftrightarrow
Z_N.
$$

不同：

- sample；
- robot；
- information；
- thermal resource；

$$
\boxed{
\text{AI-native scientific production habitat}.
}
$$

---

## 74.1 Human Exposure Time

$$
T_H
=
\text{human time spent in hazardous zone}.
$$

目標：

$$
T_H\downarrow.
$$

---

## 74.2 Autonomous Experiment Completion Rate

$$
R_A
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{experiments\ completed\ without\ human\ physical\ intervention}}}
{N_{\mathrm{experiments}}}.
$$

---

## 74.3 Robotic Maintenance Coverage

$$
C_R
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{routine\ maintenance\ tasks\ robot-capable}}}
{N_{\mathrm{routine\ maintenance\ tasks}}}.
$$

---

## 74.4 Human-Safe Recovery Time

$$
\tau_H
=
t_{\mathrm{human-safe}}
-
t_{\mathrm{recovery\ start}}.
$$

---

## 74.5 Diagnostic Coverage

$$
D_C
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{detectable\ failures}}}
{N_{\mathrm{relevant\ failures}}}.
$$

---

## 74.6 Sample Provenance Completeness

$$
P_S
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{fully\ traceable\ samples}}}
{N_{\mathrm{samples}}}.
$$

---

## 74.7 Scientific Provenance Completeness

$$
P_E
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{reconstructable\ experiments}}}
{N_{\mathrm{experiments}}}.
$$

---

## 74.8 Experiment Throughput

$$
\Gamma
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{valid\ experiments}}}
{T}.
$$

注意：

$$
\text{valid experiments}
$$

---

## 74.9 Environment Stability

$$
\sigma_T,
$$

$$
\sigma_P,
$$

$$
\sigma_{\mathrm{vibration}},
$$

$$
\sigma_{\mathrm{humidity}}.
$$

---

## 74.10 Mean Time to Robotic Recovery

$$
MTTR_R.
$$

---

## 74.11 Human Intervention Necessity Rate

$$
R_H
=
\frac{N_{\mathrm{events\ requiring\ physical\ human\ intervention}}}
{N_{\mathrm{operations}}}.
$$

---

## H1 — Machine-Native Zone Hypothesis

$$
\{
\text{safety},
\text{precision},
\text{density},
\text{environment stability},
\text{throughput}
\}
$$

---

## H2 — Robotic-Maintainability-by-Design Hypothesis

$$
MTTR_R
$$

與：

$$
R_{\mathrm{successful\ service}}
$$

---

## H3 — No-Routine-Human-Entry Hypothesis

---

## H4 — Machine-Readable Environment Hypothesis

加入：

- machine-readable IDs；
- standardized geometry；
- robotic connectors；
- digital service metadata；

可提高 autonomous maintenance success rate。

---

## H5 — Human-Safe-Recovery Hypothesis

Machine-native zone

$$
M_M
\rightarrow
M_H
$$

---

## H6 — Instrumented-Observability Hypothesis

當：

$$
\text{human routine access}\downarrow
$$

而：

$$
\text{sensor / diagnostic coverage}\uparrow,
$$

---

## H7 — Task-Specific Embodiment Hypothesis

$$
\text{task-specific robotics}
$$

$$
\{
\text{precision},
\text{reliability},
\text{cost efficiency}
\}.
$$

---

## H8 — Scientific Production Scheduling Hypothesis

$$
\text{valid information throughput}.
$$

---

## 76.1 Robot Adaptability

$$
R_{\mathrm{success}}\downarrow\downarrow,
$$

---

## 76.2 Maintenance Cost 過高

如果：

$$
C_{\mathrm{robotic\ maintenance}}
>
C_{\mathrm{human\ maintenance}}
+
C_{\mathrm{shutdown}},
$$

---

## 76.3 Human-Safe Recovery 太慢

若：

$$
\tau_H
$$

---

## 76.4 Environmental Benefit

---

## 76.5 Automation 造成 Vendor Lock-In

$$
C_{\mathrm{lifecycle}}
$$

---

## 76.6 AI Perception

$$
\text{scientific validity}
\downarrow.
$$

---

# 77. Safety Principles

## Principle 1 — Machine-Native Is Not Human-Forbidden

$$
Z_M,Z_N
$$

仍需 recovery path。

---

## Principle 2 — No Routine Human Entry Requires Higher Observability

$$
H_{\mathrm{access}}\downarrow
\Rightarrow
O_{\mathrm{instrumented}}\uparrow.
$$

---

## Principle 3 — Robotic Maintainability Must Be Designed In

---

## Principle 4 — Safe Human Entry Must Be Independently Verified

Operational AI

$$
\text{safe for humans}.
$$

---

## Principle 5 — Human Absence Does Not Remove Governance

$$
\neq
$$

---

## Principle 6 — Task Determines Embodiment

$$
B^\ast
=
f(\text{task}).
$$

---

## Principle 7 — Autonomous Science Must Preserve Raw Evidence

$$
\text{AI representation}
\neq
\text{raw scientific evidence}.
$$

---

## Principle 8 — Failure Recovery Is Part of Normal Design

$$
\exists
\text{robot failure}.
$$

---

## Principle 9 — Human Intervention Is a Valid Terminal Recovery Path

$$
\boxed{
\text{when to stop being autonomous}.
}
$$

---

$$
\text{who may control what}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{where each kind of operator is physically expected to exist}.
}
$$

因此：

$$
\text{authority topology}
$$

$$
\text{spatial topology}
$$

例如：

$$
Z_N
$$

中：

Local AI authority 高。

但：

$$
\text{human physical presence}=0
$$

during normal operation。

而：

$$
Z_H
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{AI-Native Observation}.
}
$$

包括：

- raw scientific data；
- multimodal sensor fusion；
- adaptive observation；
- scientific representation；
- AI projection；
- uncertainty；
- provenance；
- human drill-down；
- raw-evidence recovery。

$$
\text{instrument world}
\rightarrow
\text{AI scientific world model}
\rightarrow
\text{human scientific interface}.
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{部分未來科研空間不一定需要以人類常態存在作為第一設計條件。}
}
$$

$$
\text{human outside}
+
\text{machine inside}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{機器不只開始操作科研設備，也開始參與觀察、決策與跨設備工作流。}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{What if the laboratory itself were designed for machine operators first?}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\textbf{a scientific physical world inhabited operationally by machines}
}
$$

- digital twin；
- remote intervention；
- exception-based physical entry；

$$
\text{human removed}.
$$

而是：

$$
\boxed{
\text{human physical presence becomes optional where physics, safety, and science make it unnecessary}.
}
$$
