$$
\boxed{
E_i[R_j(x)]
\text{ itself is not novel.}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
E_i[R_j(x)]
\rightarrow
R_i(x)
\rightarrow
D_i(x)
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{RREM cannot claim novelty at the second-order judgment layer.}
}
$$

$$
L_i(x)<0
$$

但：

$$
D_i(x)>0.
$$

$$
D_i(x)
=
F(
R_i^{(1)}(x),
R_i^{(2)}(x),
F_i(x)
),
$$

其中：

$$
R_i^{(1)}(x)
=
\text{my own respect for }x,
$$

$$
R_i^{(2)}(x)
=
\text{my estimate of others' respect for }x.
$$

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{private dislike}
+
\text{public deference}
}
$$

---

# 2. Pluralistic Ignorance

Pluralistic ignorance

$$
\forall i,\quad p_i=0,
$$

但：

$$
\forall i,\quad E_i[p_j]\approx1.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{public conformity}
\neq
\text{private endorsement}.
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{shared person perceptions}.
}
$$

- person perception；
- interjudge consensus；
- reputation；
- gossip；
- network transmission；
- culture；
- accuracy；
- trait–reputation–identity。

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{many observers converge on one person's evaluation}
}
$$

---

# 4. Second-Order Reputation Judgment

$$
J_i^{(1)}(x)
=
\text{my private reputation judgment of }x
$$

與：

$$
J_i^{(2)}(x)
=
\text{my belief about other evaluators' judgments of }x.
$$

Mariconda

$$
J_i^{(2)}(x)
\rightarrow
J_i^{(1)}(x)
\rightarrow
\text{behavioral intention}.
$$

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{second-order judgment adaptation}
}
$$

---

# 5. Common-Knowledge Status

$$
K^1(s)=K_i(s),
$$

$$
K^2(s)=K_iK_j(s),
$$

$$
K^n(s)=K_iK_j\cdots K_n(s).
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{higher-order status belief}
}
$$

---

# 6. Higher-Order Reputation Effects

$$
\text{first-order reputation effect}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{higher-order reputational amplification}.
}
$$

所以：

$$
\boxed{
\text{beliefs about beliefs about beliefs}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{RREM}
=
\text{cross-level integrative framework}.
}
$$

$$
\begin{aligned}
&\text{first-order person judgment}\\
&+\text{second-order reputation judgment}\\
&+\text{common-knowledge status}\\
&+\text{pluralistic ignorance}\\
&+\text{status consensus}\\
&+\text{relational mobility}\\
&+\text{institutional continuity}\\
&+\text{narrative amplification}.
\end{aligned}
$$

Recursive Status Ecology

## Recursive Status Ecology

$$
\mathcal E
=
(
M,
X,
I,
N,
L,
Q
),
$$

其中：

- $M$：relational mobility；
- $X$：exit cost；
- $I$：institutional hierarchy；
- $N$：network density / persistence；
- $L$：legal and external constraint；
- $Q$：narrative and symbolic transmission capacity。

$$
S_x(t)
=
F(
A_x,
R_x,
\mathcal E_t,
\Phi_x(t)
),
$$

其中：

$$
A_x
=
\text{attributes / capability},
$$

$$
R_x
=
\text{relational position},
$$

$$
\Phi_x(t)
=
\text{recursive social evaluation field}.
$$

---

# 9. Recursive Deference Loop

定義：

$$
P_i(x,t)
=
\text{private respect / evaluation},
$$

$$
\widehat P_{-i}(x,t)
=
\text{perceived others' respect},
$$

$$
D_i(x,t)
=
\text{public deference}.
$$

$$
D_i(x,t)
=
\sigma
\left(
\alpha P_i(x,t)
+
\beta \widehat P_{-i}(x,t)
+
\gamma F_i(x,t)
-
\delta C_i(x,t)
\right).
$$

$$
\widehat P_{-i}(x,t+1)
=
G(
D_{-i}(x,t),
\text{rank signals},
\text{institutional cues},
\text{narrative cues}
).
$$

$$
\boxed{
\widehat P
\uparrow
\rightarrow
D
\uparrow
\rightarrow
\text{visible deference}
\uparrow
\rightarrow
\widehat P
\uparrow.
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{long-run feedback stability}.
}
$$

---

# 10. Pluralistic Status Maintenance

$$
\overline P_x
$$

$$
\overline{\widehat P}_x
$$

$$
\boxed{
\overline P_x
<
\overline{\widehat P}_x
}
$$

與：

$$
\boxed{
\overline D_x
\gg
\overline P_x.
}
$$

## Pluralistic Status Maintenance

$$
\text{Japanese people use second-order respect}.
$$

$$
\beta
=
\frac{\partial D_i}
{\partial \widehat P_{-i}}.
$$

$$
\boxed{
\beta_{\mathrm{Japan}}
>
\beta_{\mathrm{comparison}}
}
$$

或：

$$
\boxed{
T_{\mathrm{feedback,Japan}}
>
T_{\mathrm{comparison}}.
}
$$

$$
\widehat P_{-i}(x,t)
$$

$$
\text{Kuuki-reading}
\rightarrow
\text{more frequent / richer sampling of social cues}.
$$

$$
\text{Kuuki-reading}
\rightarrow
\text{higher objective accuracy}.
$$

$$
\text{more social cue use}
\rightarrow
\text{stronger herding / pluralistic ignorance}.
$$

$$
H(x)=f(\text{personal traits}).
$$

$$
H_x(t)
=
F(
A_x,
C_x,
\Phi_x(t),
N_x(t)
),
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{recognition}
\rightarrow
\text{narrative salience}
\rightarrow
\text{more recognition}.
}
$$

$$
\text{co-optation},
\text{elite inclusion},
\text{rebel reintegration}
$$

- vertical social capital；
- horizontal elite networks；
- coercive capacity；
- local support；
- bargaining power；
- regime threat

$$
P(\text{reintegration})
=
F(
\text{capability},
\text{network capital},
\text{threat},
\text{legitimacy},
\text{narrative status},
\text{institutional repair value}
).
$$

- idiosyncrasy credit；
- deviance credit；
- leader prototypicality；
- dominance-deference；
- pluralistic ignorance；
- power harassment；
- status as deference。

因此：

$$
\boxed{
\text{high status}
\rightarrow
\text{more behavioral latitude}
}
$$

$$
B_i(x,t)
=
F(
P_i,
\widehat P_{-i},
D_{-i},
X_i,
L_t
).
$$

## H-A｜Second-Order Weight Hypothesis

$$
\beta
=
\frac{\partial D_i}
{\partial \widehat P_{-i}}.
$$

$$
\beta_{\mathrm{Japan}}
>
\beta_{\mathrm{high\ mobility\ comparison}}.
$$

---

## H-B｜Feedback Persistence Hypothesis

假設：

$$
D_t
\rightarrow
\widehat P_{t+1}.
$$

$$
\rho_{\mathrm{Japan}}
>
\rho_{\mathrm{comparison}},
$$

$$
\Delta S_0
$$

$$
T_{\mathrm{status}}.
$$

---

## H-C｜Cross-Domain Coupling Hypothesis

測試：

$$
\text{high perceived collective recognition}
$$

$$
\begin{cases}
\text{deference},\\
\text{behavioral latitude},\\
\text{heroic salience},\\
\text{reintegration willingness}.
\end{cases}
$$

$$
Z_{\mathrm{recognition}},
$$

$$
A\in\{\text{high ability},\text{low ability}\},
$$

$$
R^{(2)}\in\{\text{others respect},\text{others do not respect}\},
$$

$$
M\in\{\text{high exit cost},\text{low exit cost}\},
$$

$$
B\in\{\text{polite},\text{domineering}\}.
$$

測量：

$$
Y=
(
\text{respect},
\text{deference},
\text{tolerance},
\text{leader choice},
\text{reintegration},
\text{hero attribution}
).
$$

$$
R^{(2)}\times M
$$

與：

$$
R^{(2)}\times B.
$$

$$
C\in
\{
\text{Japan},
\text{Korea},
\text{China},
\text{US},
\text{Europe}
\}.
$$

$$
R^{(2)}\times C
$$

或：

$$
R^{(2)}\times M\times C.
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{status}
=
\text{position}
+
\text{perceived collective recognition}.
}
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{second-order respect}
\rightarrow
\text{deference}
}
$$

$$
\text{second-order judgment weights},
$$

$$
\text{feedback persistence},
$$

與：

$$
\text{cross-domain coupling}.
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{RREM is a new general theory of second-order social evaluation}.
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{Recursive Status Ecology}
=
\text{integrative research program}.
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{long-run coupling}
+
\text{historical persistence}
+
\text{cross-domain outputs}
+
\text{Japan as comparative stress test}.
}
$$

---

- status maintenance loops；
- reputation feedback；
- self-reinforcing deference；
- status cascades；
- hierarchy persistence；
- public deference feedback。

$$
\text{status}
\rightarrow
\text{deference}
+
\text{tolerance}
+
\text{heroization}
+
\text{reintegration}.
$$

$$
\beta_{\mathrm{Japan}}
\stackrel{?}{>}
\beta_{\mathrm{comparison}}.
$$

---

$$
\boxed{
\text{Second-order respect is established.}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{Second-order reputation judgment is established.}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{Common-knowledge status is established.}
}
$$

$$
\boxed{
\text{ecological moderation}
+
\text{dynamic persistence}
+
\text{cross-domain coupling}.
}
$$
